Featuring seven rarely seen paintings by Hedda Sterne commissioned by Fortune magazine and published in their July 1961 issue. The paintings served as a visual profile of John Deere & Co., created after Sterne’s tour of the company’s factories in Illinois and Iowa. The depictions of tractor parts and mechanical tools are Sterne’s effort to “understand not how they work, but how they are.”
